Stephen's Story
Stephen was riding a sports bike in Derbyshire when a car pulled out of a side junction into his path. Stephen, who was 22 years old at the time, was paralysed in the accident and is confined to a wheelchair. Liability for the accident was initially denied by the insurers and when they eventually admitted primary liability they suggested that clients damages should be reduced for contributory negligence in that he was travelling too fast. We were able to defeat that argument and the insurers eventually admitted full liability. Interim payments were paid to enable Stephen to buy and adapt a bungalow. He was eventually able to return to work but did need ongoing support. The final compensation payment received was £1,085,000.
