Barry's Story
Barry was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident when he was 19 years old. He was knocked off his machine by a negligent lorry driver. The doctors were unable to save his right leg which had to be amputated above the knee. Barry went through a long period of rehabilitation and adjustment but his claim was eventually settled for £775,000 which enabled him to purchase a bungalow and provide for the cost of privately funded prostheses rather than having to rely upon those supplied by the NHS. The final settlement package included additional payments to fund the cost of vocational rehabilitation to help Barry through the process of obtaining further academic qualifications and return to work.
