What's happening in Barratts' World

It has been a busy couple of months. We have settled two major motorcyclists' claims following protracted and intense negotiations with the defendants. At least the client's can now put the litigation behind them and concentrate on their future. Both have returned to motorcycling and I have already been on a ride-out with one of them. I never cease to be amazed by the resilience of Bikers who for the most part, want to get on a bike as soon as their injuries allow. That is why we at Barratts focus on active rehabilitation and progress the claim as efficiently as possible.

So what has happened on the biking front? I went to the Nurburgring on the Hayabusa in May with the Nottingham Advanced Motorcyclists and what an experience that was. I believe that it is one of those life's boxes that has to be ticked. Excellent track but you have to be wary of the cars that go round the Ring at a phenomenal speed, so you cannot always take the racing line.

I then rode to the far north west of Scotland with Beth on the trusty old Blackbird with the Honda Owners Club for 10 days. What fantastic roads and breathtaking scenery. However, the vicious midges were a pain.

Back for a couple of days and then off to do Level 4 again of the California Superbike School at Silverstone. It was the first time that I rode this track. The suspension on the Hayabusa had just been set up and for a change, I didn't shred the back tyre. The heavens opened for the last session and for the ride home but I still had a massive grin on my face.

I was able to join the Suzuki Owners Club for a lovely Sunday run up to Holmfirth and yet again, we had torrential rain all the way back from Sid's Café.

I attended the first camping weekend of 2010 at the New Forest and goodness, was it cold! This weekend is a trip up to Stockport . The next two weekends will again see me under canvass but at least the weather has turned a little warmer.

Hope to see you on a ride out but in the meantime, Ride Safe.

The season has been going really well for me. I am currently lying 5th in the British Masters Championship. I travelled up to Dean Moore in Cumbria in April for the 2nd round which was an amazing track in the hills, I finished 5 th , 17 th , 6th and 10th to give me an overall of 9th for the weekend which I was pleased with as this was the 1st visit to the track. Two weeks later I travelled to Pontrilas in Wales for the 3rd round. I finished 6th overall for the weekend again this was my 1st time at the track so I was happy with that. A further two weeks later and we travelled to Foxhills in Swindon for the 4th round-this is probably the best track in the country and where the British Motocross Grand Prix is held. It rained in the morning and I qualified in 2nd which was fantastic. I finished 3rd 4th and two 8ths which gave me an overall of 4th for the weekend and I have moved into 5th place in the championship! I'm loving riding the 450 and looking forward to the rest of the season.
